Finding a scuba course is relatively easy. Finding a community where you feel represented, supported, and welcomed can take more work. A strong dive community helps you find dependable buddies, build experience, continue your education, and feel more comfortable entering new dive environments.
Unicorns of Diving is a Florida-based Black scuba diving club with members across the country. We connect aspiring, returning, and active divers through regular Florida dive trips, destination travel, training, community service, family activities, and fellowship. Our goal is simple: help more people find their dive family and stay connected to the water.

Our mission is to build a supportive dive family that brings Black divers and divers of every background together through training, travel, fellowship, service, and care for the waters we share.

We help divers build knowledge, safety, and confidence through training and time in the water, while encouraging responsible choices in every environment. Growth as a diver includes protecting the seas, springs, reefs, and waterways that make our experiences possible.

Connected Beyond Our Club
Unicorns of Diving is proud to be a Charter Club of the National Association of Black Scuba Divers . NABS connects Black divers, clubs, instructors, and marine professionals across the United States and internationally. That relationship expands the network available to UOD members.
UOD’s focus is the dive life we build together: regular Florida dive trips, member support, training, travel, fellowship, and service. We also work with organizations such as Diving With a Purpose, Black In Marine Science, and community partners that create more opportunities in scuba and marine education.

Helping New Divers Enter the Water
During the 2025 Black In Marine Science Immersion Program, Unicorns of Diving helped participants build water confidence, earn scuba certifications, complete dives, and support conservation work.

Do I need to be certified to connect with Unicorns of Diving?

Who does Unicorns of Diving serve?

Is the club only active in Florida?
No. Unicorns of Diving has members across the country and offers both Florida activities and destination travel. The public calendar shows currently scheduled events.
What if I was certified but have not dived recently?
A refresher course and a controlled return to the water can help rebuild comfort and skills. Contact Unicorns of Diving to discuss a starting point that fits your experience.
Can nondiving family members participate?
Many club activities include fellowship, community service, travel, and social events outside the water. Check each event description for participant requirements.
